Goodnaz 5K

Today our church (Goodlettsville Nazarene) had their first 5K race. There were so many people that came out to help and run/walk...it was awesome! The doctor said it was fine for me to continue walking, so I was thrilled to participate! Although, I would have rather been running, it was great to get some exercise! Shanda & I actually got a huge workout...we expected the course to be flat, but it was incredibly hilly! We took the jogging stroller and had to haul 2 toddlers up and down the course...we ended up jogging a decent amount of it, because it was just easier to make it up the hills that way and the stroller naturally flew down the hills, so we had to keep up! : ) I'm sure Baby 2 wasn't sure what was going on, especially on our last hill...it was a doozie! My ankle felt good until the very end...and I'm still paying for it! My muscles were so incredibly sore the next day and we came down with Carter's virus, so Sunday was a rough day for me! (Bummer, I didn't get any pictures of us with the kiddos in the stroller).

Official times:
Matt Baskin- 24:50 (2nd place in age category)
Shannon Baskin- 44:08
Matt Hayes- 29:20 (3rd place in age category)
Shanda Hayes- 44:08
The guys did great and even came home with medals...whoo hoo! : )

17 week check-up

We had a good check-up today: blood pressure was good, gained 4 lbs since last visit (it sounded like a lot to me when she first said it, but that is only a lb. a week since my last visit, so I think I’m right on track), heart beat sounded great (with Carter and Baby 2 our doctor has always been able to find the heart beat so quick, she never has to search for it), we scheduled our 20 week ultrasound for March 26th (yeah…I can’t believe we find out what we’re having in 3 weeks…this pregnancy is going by so quick!!!), and as for my icky ankle- she suggested I call a Medical Supply store and try some stronger support hose. I joked about as I get closer to the end of pregnancy, I would need to sleep by the potty since I wouldn’t be able to hop anymore…she seriously mentioned using a bed pan…aaah, absolutely not! I told my friend Mandy that I was totally going to be a granny! : ) Even before my granny & nana are…they are so young and fun and here I am with my support hose and bed pan…ha, ha!

For the history on my ankle- when I was about 16 weeks pregnant with Carter, Matt and I used all his travel points and went on a “Babymoon” to Maui. It was a fabulous trip, but the flight was miserable for a pregnant lady! It took forever to get there! I stayed awake the entire trip down there and made sure to move my legs around often. However, on the way back, it was early and I was sick and miserable and finally fell asleep with my barf bag in hand. I slept for several hours without moving. Shortly after we got back, I noticed an icky purple vein on my left ankle. It wasn’t big or painful, just not very pretty. It got larger and more purple throughout the rest of my pregnancy and then after I had Carter it slowly got better…although it didn’t go away, it faded and just looked like a bruise. As soon as I got pregnant this time, it swelled up worse than it did during my last few weeks of pregnancy with Carter. It is very painful and I have trouble walking towards the end of the night…some nights I can’t even make it up the stairs to tuck Carter in...and I have to hop or limp to the restroom. I bought an ankle support a couple weeks ago and it helps a little, but not enough. I’m usually fine during the day since I sit so much at work, it’s just after I pick Carter up and I’m cooking dinner and playing and standing more. Thankfully, I’m over the extreme exhaustion and everyday nauseousness, but I’m worried that this ankle thing is going to be so much worse as I continue gaining weight. As soon as I have the baby, I can go to Lave MD and have a laser procedure done that should hopefully totally get rid of it. But until then, I'll just have to deal with it.

Baby Movements

There have been several times that I thought I felt Baby 2 move…today, I am sure of it! My parents took Carter to their house for lunch after church, so Matt & I treated ourself to Lunch at Carrabba’s…yum-o!!! It was so good…ok, I have to stop thinking about it or I’m going to start craving it! Anyways, after lunch on the way home, I felt Baby 2 kick 5 or 6 times in a row! Baby 2 must like Italian because the next day after eating my leftovers for lunch, it was very active again! : ) And I’ve felt Baby 2 move every day since then…several times a day! It’s so sweet, I love feeling those little movements! My baby is actually moving now- hi baby 2, mommy loves you!!!

Caleb's 2nd Birthday Party

Today we went to Caleb's 2nd birthday party! Caleb is in Carter's nursery class at Church and his older brother Gavin is in Mere's class. Their parents are good friends of ours and we had such a fun time watching the kids play and hanging out!

My favorite...

place to brush my teeth! It has always been difficult to brush Carter's teeth, but the new location is working fabulous! He brushes his teeth while looking in the mirror and then mommy inspects and helps him brush a little more!

Fun day with the babies

My grandparents were out of town today for a funeral, so I stayed home and watched our precious little angels. We had such a fun day! Aunt Lori stopped by and played for a little while (picture taken by photographer Mere)!

They made pallets all over the place and watched Full House (Mere's new favorite), we read books, and played with the majority of toys in the play room...

Shanda- I promise your child didn't have a horrible day! She was having fun with the camera and wanted to take a picture of herself! I helped her turn the camera around and instead of smiling for it, she made this frumpy face...only Mere! : )
Surprisingly, I got both of them down for naps at the same time! Mere took a 3 hour nap and I finally woke Carter up after taking a 3 1/2 hour nap...that has to be a record!!!

Sunday pics

I went to go wake my little man up for church and freaked out when I couldn't find him...as I turned around to walk out the door, there he was! He woke up early and then rocked himself back to sleep in his chair...so cute!

Getting the co-sleeper ready for Baby 2! This is one of my most favorite baby items! I wouldn't register for one because I told Matt that we didn't need it. Only a couple days after Carter came home and wouldn't sleep anywhere other than on us, I begged him to go buy it! : ) Carter slept most of his 1st 3 months in the middle of our bed! It was fabulous for a nervous first time mommy...I would go to sleep with my hand on his tummy feeling him breath!

Loving on Daddy before he left for his trip to Wilton, Connecticut...we'll miss you!!!

We had a big Super Bowl party with our entire Bible Study group and everyone's kids tonight...it was so much fun!!! I was all over the place and didn't even think about taking pictures! We sure missed Daddy tonight at our Super Bowl party!
